WHAT IS UNRIVALED?
God has laid before us a vision to further the mission He has for us as a church through a 24-month generosity initiative.
Unrivaled is an exciting opportunity for every person who calls Bay Area home to take the next step along our journey of generosity.
THE PRIMARY GOAL
Our primary goal in Unrivaled is 100 percent engagement – that every single person at Bay Area would engage the fight for surrender, faith and generosity by asking what it means to put God first.
Because Jesus is unrivaled, we believe He calls every one of us to fight for:
If Jesus died for us, then no sacrifice should be too big for us to make for Him. We must fight our desire to be in control, surrendering to Jesus. What are you holding back from the Lordship of Jesus of which you need to relinquish control?
Faith is the confident conviction that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do. Trusting God in all of life isn’t easy; it’s a continual fight. What step do you need to take that moves you away from your comfort zone and into dependence upon Him?
Jesus modeled unrivaled generosity and affirmed that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” One of the greatest struggles in our culture is the fight between achieving security through wealth and giving joyfully. What next level of generosity do you need to attain in order to express your gratitude for what He has done for you?
THE SECONDARY GOAL
We are trusting God for $16.5 million over the next two years to accomplish the Kingdom-expanding vision He has given us. We believe He has identified three primary areas for us to invest.
MULTIPLY OUR MINISTRY:
Many of our greatest opportunities to reach people with the gospel message of Jesus come through our weekend gatherings and ongoing ministries at both our Annapolis and Easton locations. Our current combined annual budget of $5.5 million funds staffing, facilities and ministries at our locations as well as missions and church planting. Over two years, continuing all that we currently do will cost $11 million.
INVEST IN OUR CHILDREN AND STUDENTS:
In 2016 we launched The Descendants Project, an exciting expansion of our children’s and student ministries aimed at furthering our partnership with parents in reaching and discipling the next generations. Unrivaled reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in children and students through this expansion in the amount of $3 million.
We know that God is calling us to more. We want to elevate our mission of making passionate, maturing followers of Jesus from here to the nations by making additional investments in areas that will catalyze Kingdom growth. Over the next two years, we have a vision to launch two to three new campuses, train up more pastoral residents, increase our giving to local and global outreach and much more. We’re trusting God to provide $2.5 million to expand our impact around the world.
God is going to do amazing things, greater than we could ask or imagine, over the next two years! $16.5 million is a big goal, but it’s not up to us. God owns it all, and we are simply called to be faithful stewards.
ONE OWNER, ONE MISSION, ONE FUND
How will Unrivaled work?
Traditionally, capital campaigns focus on those who already give to the church and ask for gifts to be made “above and beyond” that which is already being committed to the operating budget. In the past, these campaigns are what made special initiatives and building expansions possible.
Unlike traditional campaigns, Unrivaled is a “one fund” initiative, meaning that all of our giving occurs as a combined gift and goes toward all three areas of investment. It’s all one mission, so it’s all funded through one budget.
Why does this distinction matter? We want everyone at Bay Area to experience greater faith, surrender and generosity through Unrivaled. Through a “one fund” initiative we can invite everyone to grow in generosity, regardless of whether they currently give or what they currently give.
Unrivaled will last for two years. During that time, every gift to Bay Area will go toward multiplying our ministry, investing in children and students, and expanding Christ’s reach.
